Three persons, including two students, were killed when they were struck by lightning in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place when the victims were picking mangoes in an orchard in Jamragidih village of Dharamjaigarh region on Sunday evening, a senior police officer said.
The deceased were identified as Sagar Rathiya (26), Asan Rathiya (15) and Phuleshwar Rathiya (13), he said.
On Sunday evening, the trio had gone to the orchard to pick mangoes. Meanwhile, heavy rains started in the region and suddenly lightning struck them resulting in their death, the SP said.
After being informed, villagers rushed them to a local primary health centre where doctors declared them dead, he said.
During the incident, Sagar's five-year-old son was also present at the spot but he escaped unhurt, the officer said. A case has been registered in this connection, he added.
