THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has plugged the leak on the 4-inch AC pipeline at Kariyam Junction, near Sreekariyam. The leak had eventually caused the road to cave in, to some 5 feet depth, sending shock waves among the residents of the area. The incident had occurred on Saturday at around 7 pm, following which the local people intimated the police and the KWA officials. “We found out that the leak had been there for quite a long period. Nobody knew about it since the water was not seeping out through the leak. Probably, the water had flowed down to some other water body. Besides, this is an area where the road was raised using rubble due to water-logging. The water didn’t come out due to this reason,” said a KWA official. The KWA team rectified the problem by around 3 am on Sunday.
