TIRUCHY: A Soundirapandiyan, Lalgudi MLA, was arrested in a case relating to the Kalaignar Arivalayam land grab here on Friday. It may be recalled that Dr K Srinivasan of Thuraiyur had, on Wednesday, complained that a piece of land measuring 13,920 sqft owned by him on the Tiruchy-Karur bypass road, was grabbed from him under intimidation and assault. Subsequently, former transport minister K N Nehru and others were arrested on Thursday.Meanwhile, DMK Treasurer M K Stalin, had visited Pudukkottai for a public meeting on Friday. Soundirapandiyan was returning to Lalgudi after seeing him off at Tiruchy Airport around midnight, when he (Soundirapandiyan) was intercepted and arrested by police at Samayapuram tollgate.Speaking to reporters immediately after his arrest, Soundirapandiyan said the police had refused even to tell him why he was being arrested.
