BELGAUM: The labourers of Green Field Buffalo Farm (GFBF) at Sudgatti, who had hailed from Uttar Pradesh (UP), bid adieu to Belgaum after district administration paid them their pending salaries, on Thursday. It may be recalled here that, after Sanjay Tenginakai, owner of GFBF was accused in a cheating case recently, he is said to be absconding. The absence of Tenginakai and the case against him provided illeffects to the farm. The buffaloes in the farm began to starve to death due to dearth of fodder and payment of salaries to labourers came to an halt. The court instructed the district administration to auction the farm, in which Rs 1.42 crore was collected. From the same, the concerned authorities paidoff the pending salaries of the labourers.According to sources, there were 28 labourers and each of them was paid Rs 6,000 per month. The total amount paid to them was Rs 1.68 lakh. The labourers belonged to Banaras and Chindowli districts of UP. They said that they will either go back to their home town or to some other place which provides them employment.
