New York:After having the English in splits, comedy series The Kumars at No 42 crossed the Atlantic and hit the American audience when BBC America put the show on air earlier this year.
Adding to the show's popularity is a DVD, which will be released in the United States on November 8.
Part scripted comedy, part improvisation, part genuine interview, Kumars at No 42 is hosted by Sanjeev Bhaskar.
Sanjeev Bhaskar, who plays son and talk-shot host Sanjeev Kumar, is also the creator of Kumars at No 42.
The show is filmed in a studio, which is part of the house he shares with his family.
The guests who appear on Sanjeev's chat show have to endure a pre-programme grilling from Sanjeev's father Ashwin (Vincent Ebrahim), mother Madhuri (Indira Joshi) and his grandmother Sushila (Meera Syal)who in real life is married to Bhaskar.
The DVD, which is presumed to be a big hit, specially with the American desis, offers some extras such as a tour conducted by Bhaskar through the Kumar home.
Paul Augustine, Senior Manager, Brand Marketing, BBC America says, "The Kumars at No. 42 is one of the more popular comedies running on BBC in the United Kingdom."
Augustine says that BBC America is confident that the series will be a hit in the US as well.
