CHENNAI: The dog days of summer are only a couple of weeks away and load shedding in parts of Tamil Nadu is peaking at eight hours a day. L K Venkat of G K Moopanar Peravai plans to use this scenario in a movie provocatively titled Koodankulam. As the title suggests, the movie is about the nuclear power plant, and it takes a pro view, portraying the importance of the project in ridding the state of its power problems.At the launch of film’s shooting, producer L K Venkat said, “In every district in Tamil Nadu, outside Chennai, people are suffering without power for an average of eight hours every day. TN needs 5000 mw of power to meet its requirement. Given the situation, it is very important that the Koodankulam plant becomes operational at the earliest.”Venkat who has written the script and screenplay for the 30-minute movie believes that this movie will create awareness and dispel fears on the nuclera plant’s safety. He also sent out an appeal to the Chief Minister saying that he plant is an option to bring in energy security to Tamil Nadu.S Sekar, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, who was also present at the opening of the shooting of this movie said, “I hope this movie, will bring in the right perspective about the plant’s safety issues.”The film is to be directed by Chakkaravarthi. They plan to complete the shooting in a week’s time and it will be first screened at the Sathyamurthy Bhavan.
