Kolkata fire claims lives of two Kerala nurses

KOTTAYAM: P K Vineetha and Remya Rajappan, both nurses from Kottayam district, were among those killed in the fire that ravaged AMRI Hospital in Kolkata on Friday. Vineetha, of Pullickal house in Kothanallur, had gone to Kolkata a couple of months ago after completing nursing from Hyderabad. The family is financially weak. She had recently sent Rs 5,000 home. Her mother Mary is currently undergoing treatment for kidney ailment and her father is a labourer. She has a younger sister Vidhya. Remya Rajappan, 24, of Macheril House, Uzhavoor, had joined the hospital about eight months ago. She is survived by father Rajappan, mother Usha and elder brother Ratheesh, who is working in a Gulf country.
