CHOTTANIKKARA: As part of the Onam celebrations at Chottanikkara Devi Temple hundreds of ‘kazhchakulas’ (banana bunches) were offered by devotees,The rituals for the offering started after the ‘Panteeradi Pooja’. Chief priest Ramachandran Embranthiri dedicated the first ‘kazhchakula’ to the presiding deity. This was followed by ‘kazhchakula’ offering by the Devaswam Board members and senior Devaswam officials. Scores of devotees too offered ‘kazchakulas’. On Thiruvonam day a sumptuous sadhya will be served to devotees for which the bananas will be used. Special items such as ‘pazham nurukku’ (boiled plantain) and ‘pazha pradhaman’ will also be served to the devotees. As Thiruvonam falls on Friday a huge crowd is expected at the temple.
