THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a gap of 65 years, the state unit of INTUC, which is piloting a ‘work more,earn more’ campaign, is all set to go in for membership-based organisational polls at various levels on November 1.Except in Kasargod, where the polls will be held on October 31 owing to a hartal the next  day, all arrangements for the massive exercise have been finalised. INTUC state president R Chandrasekharan told mediapersons here on Monday that the elections are being organised in a scientific manner after examining the membership documents in all units.Delegates have been finalised in the ratio of one for every 100 members in the district level and 1: 500 at the state level.A total membership of 10.7 lakh had been issued, he said. Senior lawyers associated with the organisation will function as  returning officers in all districts.There will be two  state chief observers - Joy George and Abdul Rahman. The returning officers for various districts are:  Thiruvananthapuram- Leji Abraham, Kollam-Jafeer Khan, Alappuzha - P K Sajeevan, Pathanamthitta- C K Jayakumar, Kottayam- Sonet Paul, Idukki- Saju S Anir, Ernakulam-  Dalby P Immanuel, Thrissur- Praveen K Joy, Malappuram- Jimmy Johan, Palakkad- T C Polachan, Kannur - Reghunath, Kasargod- Sreeparakash, Kozhikode- M K Varghese and Wayanad - Sumesh Manniyil.Photo ID cards will be issued to all delegates, who will cast a single vote on their choice. The voters’ list will be published on October 27. The list of candidates will be published the next day. On October 31 at 1 pm, the final list will be announced after scrutiny.The INTUC state unit had been ranked as fifth in the verification of the trade unions central committee. The new approach in elections by verifying documents will better INTUC’s  position, Chandrasekharan said. INTUC state unit had launched  commendable initiatives in the past three years, including formation of an union for MNREGS workers.
