New Delhi: India's One-Day series against the West Indies, tentatively scheduled to be held in the US this September, might be postponed to next year if suitable stadiums were not available during that period, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Niranjan Shah said on Monday.
"We are waiting for the ICC to assess the venues and give clearance. In case that does not come, we might hold the tournament in June next year," Shah said.
India were slated to play either three or five One-Dayers in Florida, the US, and Toronto, Canada.
The matches were arranged to raise funds for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) which is struggling under the financial burden of hosting the 2007 World Cup.
Media reports said the BCCI had suggested to the WICB that the proposed tournament could be held in Singapore or Hong Kong on the original dates if the venues were not ready in time.
But Shah said such reports were not correct.
"What has the WICB got to do with the venues, it is upto the US Cricket Association," he said.
For the grounds to be approved, an ICC Match Referee would have to inspect the facilities and give a report clearing it to hold international matches.
