Indiavision channel reporter, cameraman attacked

KASARGOD: Fousya Mustaffa, 25, reporter of Indiavision television channel, cameraman Subith, 23, and cab driver Abdul Salam, 32, were admitted to the Government General Hospital here after they were allegedly beaten up by the police while trying to film a police vehicle carrying school children.The incident occurred near the district police office in Parakkatta.The police van was carrying children from some schools in the suburbs when the channel crew tried to photograph it.According to the police, a private vehicle with unknown identity has been following the police vehicle for the past few days. Policemen in mufti were assigned to watch the private vehicle. The channel crew were beaten up by the police on Friday evening when they tried to film the police vehicle. They said that the police tore up the ‘Press’ sticker on the cab before attacking the journalists.Mediapersons took out a march in the town in protest against the incident.
