New Delhi: The Indian rugby team is all set to participate in the Commonwealth Games 2010 at New Delhi. The Games will see the top rugby nations like New Zaeland, Australia, England and South Africa battle it out and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Indian fans to see rugby matches between the top rugby nations of the world.
"We are really looking forward to see our team taking on the best in the world. This squad of 12 has been picked based on their performance over the course of the last 2 years from around 30 core probables. The entire Indian Rugby family wishes them all the best," says Vice President of Rugby India Aga Hussain.
The 12-member Indian squad for Commonwealth Games is led by Nasser Hussain.
"We have an amazing set of players in the squad who have been working really hard and we are all excited about playing against the big teams in Rugby. Everyone in the team has been working really hard on skill and fitness so that we can give the top teams good competition," says Hussain
Commonwealth Games rugby event is often touted as the mini world cup of rugby.
The squad: Amit Lochab (Delhi), Rohaan Sethna (Mumbai), Hrishikesh Pendse (Mumbai), Gautam Dagar (Delhi), Deepak Dagar (Delhi), Sujai Lama (Ahmednagar), Surinder Singh (Ahmednagar), Thimmaiah Mandanda (Bangalore), Kayrus Unwala (Mumbai), Puneet Krishnamoorthy (Bangalore).
