A helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard made an emergency landing into the Arabian Sea near Gujarat late on Monday, after which three of its crew members were missing.
One member was rescued following the incident, which happened after 11 pm.
The Coast Guard said it was an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), on a mission to evacuate an injured crew member from the Motor Tanker Hari Leela off Porbandar.
Rescue operations to locate the missing crew members are underway.
In a post on social media platform X, the Coast Guard said, “On September 2, 2024, ALH helicopter was launched at 2300 hrs to evacuate an injured crew member from the Motor Tanker Hari Leela off Porbandar, Gujarat.”
“The helicopter had to make an emergency landing at sea. One crew member recovered, search for the remaining three crew members is in progress,” it added.
“ICG has deployed 04 ships & 02 aircraft for rescue efforts,” the Indian Coast Guard’s post read.
