Kolkata: Olympic-bound women's recurve trio of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro helped India top the qualification round to sail into the quarterfinals of Asian Grand Prix in Bangkok on Thursday.
In the compound section, it was a fine outing for both men's and women's team, finishing first and second respectively.
The much fancied men's recurve team, however, slipped to third position.
According to information received here, Bombayla Devi (646) finished fourth, Deepika (644) eighth and Swuro ninth (642) as India topped with a total of 1932 points, one point ahead of France.
India will get a first round bye in the pre-quarterfinals to make the last eight, where they will take on the winners between Malaysia and Iran.
Men's trio of Rajat Chauhan (695), Chittibomma Jignas (695) and Ritul Chatterjee (693) put up a stupendous show in the compound section as they finished with top three positions, to help the team emerge first in the qualification round with a total of 2083 points.
In the draw of eight, the team will face Malaysia in the quarters. Meanwhile, the women's compound team by virtue of finishing second set up a clash against Vietnam.
In the men's recurve section, Jayanta Talukdar was the best among the lot, finishing fourth with 665 points, while Mangal Singh Champia slipped to to 11th spot with a total of 659 points.
The biggest disappointment of the day was, however, Thupuvoi Swuro, who slipped to 30th place with a total of 647 points. The team will take on 14th placed Philippines in the elimination round.
