India doesn't need 'deaf-dumb' government run by remote control: Narendra Modi
Narendra Modi on Thursday denounced the Congress-led UPA government as a handicapped regime run by remote control and said the country does not need another one like it.

Narendra Modi on Thursday denounced the Congress-led UPA government as a handicapped regime run by remote control and said the country does not need another one like it.

"The country does not want a deaf and dumb, handicapped government, run by remote control, at the Centre. The country wants a "sevak" (worker) to lead it to new heights," Modi said at an election rally in Jamshedpur.

Lambasting the UPA government's policies, he said, "We are exporting raw materials to foreign countries and importing finished product from there."

The government has been exporting wheat and importing "chapattis", exporting iron ore and importing steel, he said asking how the steel sector would function and employment be generated in this manner.

This was one of the reasons why the country's economy was worsening, he said and described the Congress's recently released election manifesto as "dhoka patra".

"They had released similar manifestos in 2004 and 2009. They had promised to control inflation in 100 days after coming to power in 2009 but they miserably failed to fulfil it," Modi said.

He asked Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi why they were mum on the issue of price rise.

"I ask Madam Sonia and Shehzaada (Rahul) why they are not talking to you about price rise. The Congress has ruled the country for 60 years, just give me 60 months to serve you," Modi said.

"Mahatama Gandhi knew that Congress would loot the country after come to power and that was why he wanted to dissolve the party after Independence. His anticipation has come out true today," he said.
