The Iron Man of North 24 Parganas, in West Bengal, is finally free. For quite a few years, passers-by spotted the man wandering near the Habra Railway Gate Number 2 with various metals and chains on his body. Due to this, locals refer to him as the Iron Man.
As per reports, if people offered him two meals a day, he would gladly accept it and eat it happily. He had wires coiled around his neck and other metals on his body which caused injuries to his neck and hands. Yet, the man determinedly wandered the streets tirelessly from early in the morning till late at night. Reportedly, at the sight of any metal, especially iron on the road, he would pick it up and wear it around his neck and hands.
Soon, the helpless man’s photos surfaced on the internet and quickly went viral. It earned the compassion of a few individuals who along with the support and help of the local police administration stepped forward to help the iron man out. It was with the help of their efforts that they finally freed the man of all the useless metals from his body and attempted to bring him back to a healthy life.
Reportedly, it took two workers from an animal welfare organisation and seven hours, to clean and bathe him properly before they sent him off to the Banipur Home in Habra. As of now, the homeless man has found a temporary residence here.
As per the information available, it was found out that his name is Pawan Kumar and he hails from Uttar Pradesh. He may also be suffering from some physical illness along with mental instability and requires medical attention. Further investigation is needed to find out why he left his home. However, currently, everyone is trying to make sure that Pawan can live a more normal and healthy life and is helping him out as per their capacity. Reportedly, people were making attempts to connect him with people from his past. His relief has left social media users happy.
