DHENKANAL: Tension prevails in Dhenkanal town after 12 persons, including police personnel, were injured following a clash between members of two clubs during immersion of Ganesh idols on Wednesday evening.The immersion processions were being taken out by members of Baji Rout Club and Diamond Club at Laxmi Bazar.Though the exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it is learnt that members of both the groups were in an inebriated condition and started pelting stones at each other during the processions. On Thursday morning, violence erupted again at the Town Planning square when police refused to provide permission to Super Tiger Club members who wanted to take out the immersion procession throughout the town. Agitated over this, theClub members staged a road blockade.Town police station IIC Umesh Gadnayak said two platoons of armed police have been deployed in the town to avoid further flare-up.
