In a dramatic turn of events near the Kashi toll plaza in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, police apprehended a man posing as a constable of the Delhi Police. The incident unfolded around 1 am on Thursday night when Partapur police station personnel stopped a car going towards Delhi, adorned with police insignia.
Initially presenting himself as a Delhi Police constable and also showing a police ID, the man’s claim raised suspicion among the officers. Upon further questioning, discrepancies in his responses led to his swift arrest by Meerut Police. The imposter, identified as Manish Kumar, had allegedly been exploiting his fake identity to extort money from unsuspecting victims.
During the confrontation, police recovered an illegal weapon from Kumar, further complicating his legal situation. Authorities are now preparing to lodge him in custody pending formal charges.
The Meerut Police, who have received complaints regarding Kumar’s activities in the past, are continuing their investigation into the matter. The arrest underscores the vigilance necessary in combating impersonation and fraud within law enforcement.
