Barrackpore: Hoping that the situation in Darjeeling hills would normalise and a solution could be found through dialogue, West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan on Thursday said that if Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supremo Bimal Gurung wanted to talk to him then he was ready for it.
"I hope that peace will return and a solution can be reached through dialogue and talk," Narayanan said on the sidelines of a programme here.
Asked if he would talk to Gurung, Narayanan replied, "If Gurung wants to talk to me then I will surely talk."
Narayanan's statement came a day after he ruled out the possibility of his mediation in the Darjeeling hills, which saw return of normalcy on Thursday with a four-day relaxation in the indefinite shutdown called by the GJM since August 3.
Narayanan had said on Wednesday that he could not mediate in Darjeeling as he was the Governor of the state.
