Hyderabad: The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, Prof Seyed E Hasnain has been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate Degree (honoris causa) by the Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. Prof. Hasnain received the honorary doctorate for his services in the fields of science and medicine. He is only the third Indian after APJ Abdul Kalam (2009) and Prof Amartya Sen (2010) to have received this honour. Prof Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad, extended congratulations to Prof Hasnain. Prof Hasnain earlier received the Alexander von Humboldt Research Prize for his contributions to TB Infection Biology and was the first Indian to be honoured with the Robert Koch Fellowship of the Robert Koch Institute, Berlin, Germany.
