New Delhi: Hockey India Secretary General Narinder Batra on Wednesday said that Hockey India will not send any of their officials as a delegate at the expense of Indian Olympic Association at the Asian Games even while he slammed the sports ministry for "interference" on the issue.
"We have been asked by the IOA whether we want to send a delegate at the Asian Games but we have declined the offer.
The IOA can send delegates from other NSFs but we are not sending any federation official from hockey in Incheon," Batra told PTI.
"But the sports ministry has no business of telling the IOA not to send delegates. I wondered why the sports ministry wants to poke its nose in everything related to NSFs and the IOA," he said.
The IOA has offered the National Sports Federations (NSFs) to nominate an official to travel to Incheon as a delegate. The IOA will bear the expense of such a delegate who can be there in Incheon for a maximum period of seven days.
Meanwhile, the sports ministry has asked the IOA to submit information regarding Indian delegates and officials deputed to Glasgow Commonwealth Games and expenditure incurred on their travel, boarding and lodging latest by September 19.
"... it is informed that non-receipt of information till date is viewed with concern by MYAS. You are requested to forward the required information latest by 19th September, 2014 (forenoon) positively," a letter from Sports Authority of India to IOA said.
