New Delhi: Heavy monsoon continues in Delhi with the national capital hit by heavy rains on Friday morning amid fears of waterlogging on the roads, and traffic snarls.
The minimum temperature settled at 24.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below average for this time of the season. The Met office has forecast more rain later in the day.
"The skies will remain cloudy with the possibility of light rain and thundershowers later in the day," said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum temperature will hover around 35 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, Delhi received 18.8 mm of rain since Thursday 8:30 pm to Friday 8:30 am. Humidity at 8:30 am Monday stood at 96 per cent.
Thursday's maximum temperature settled a notch above average at 35.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled a notch below average at 25.6 degrees Celsius.
Since the arrival of the monsoon, the city has recorded 781.4 mm of rainfall.
Not just in Delhi, the rains have created a havoc in several parts of Uttar Pradesh leading to floods in the Jalaun district of the state. A dozen villages have been affected by the floods while the villagers allege that no authorities have visited and no relief has been provided to the area.
