Over five thousand people have been affected by the floods and many have lost their fertile land.
Jalpaiguri: Monsoon rains are continuing to wreak havoc across the country. Torrential rains in the Jalpaiguri district in Bengal have flooded several villages in the district leaving thousands of villagers homeless.
Over five thousand people have been affected by the floods and many have lost their fertile land. The Army has deployed eight teams in the area for rescue operations and have supplied relief materials to flood affected people.
On the other hand, state government officers are visiting every affected areas and supplying relief materials to the flood affected people.
There has been a heavy torrential rain going in the whole of North Bengal for the last couple of days. Jalpaiguri out of these received more than 250mm rains.
