BHUBANESWAR: The headmaster of Mahulpali Primary School under Padmapur block in Bargarh district was suspended from his service for allegedly sexually abusing the girl students. After the School and Mass Education Department received a complaint through the helpline, the matter was investigated and found it to be true. The headmaster, Nimai Charan Mohanty, was immediately suspended. Department sources said, Mohanty had been abusing the students for the last two months and even threatened against disclosing the matter before their parents. When the students brought the incident to the notice of the villagers, some of them lodged a complaint on the toll-free number. As the department began investigation, Mohanty fled the village. Following an inquiry he was suspended. Another headmaster, Ratnakar Das of Kasturba Vidyapeeth at Mahanga under Salepur block, too has been suspended for dereliction of duty. Das was not attending office regularly and had not informed the school managing committee either. While Das was suspended, two other officials Debendra Barik and Arakshit Pradhan faced punishment for protecting Das. Similarly, a teacher of the project primary school at Disariguda under Khairaput block of Malkangiri was suspended over similar allegations.
