THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The issues relating to the allotment to PG medical seats are set to become more complex as the High Court is expected to give a verdict on petitions challenging the admission of candidates by the managements to all PG seats this week. The issue in all probability will also come up for discussion in the next round of talks between the managements and the Cabinet sub-committee to be held on Tuesday. With both the State Government and the Christian Management Federation remaining adamant on the issue, the court verdict is the only possible solution for the disputes relating to the post-graduate medical admissions. The litigations on the issues will be even dragged to the Supreme Court.Director of Medical Education (DME) on Friday had notified the break-up of management and government seats for PG medical courses in 10 self-financing medical colleges in the State after cancelling the admissions made to these seats by the managements. Accordingly, 62 of the 131 seats in various PG disciplines at colleges would be for the government.Of the 16 seats for diploma courses, the Government would get eight seats. While the government had made it clear that it would go ahead with the allotments to the government seats, the Federation took the stance that it would not give admissions to students allotted to their colleges by the government.Christian Management Federation spokesman George Paul said that there was no point in having talks on the medical PG admission issue. “It is for the Government to get the required permissions from the Medical Council of India and the Supreme Court on the issue. The government should also safeguard the interest of students who have been already been admitted to these course. In the next year, the Federation is willing to provide all the 100 percent seats to the government. However, it would stick to the policy of same fees structure for all the seats,” he said.
