CHENNAI: The development and improvement of technologies in the poultry and livestock management aimed at increasing production and quality are the need of the hour, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah has said. He also called for increased cooperation between Indian universities and foreign ones to enable the diversification of knowledge.Rosaiah’s comments came at the valedictory of the celebrations of the World Veterinary Year, intended to celebrate 250 years of veterinary sciences as a profession, at the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences (TANUVAS). Also present at the function were State Minister for Animal Husbandry TKM Chinnayya, Milk and Dairy Development Minister V Moorthy and Animal Husbandry Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi.“The Indian veterinary community has silently and significantly contributed t our nation’s growth and for the development of veterinary science. To cope with changing global scenario one has to keep in pace with the technological advancements,” Rosaiah said. “Development and improvement of technologies for value addition, enhancement of poultry products and quality assurance of livestock are the need of the hour,” he added. The Governor also released two books on veterinary sciences, distributed awards to TANUVAS’s best faculty.
