CHENNAI: For the many NCC cadets from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar islands, Saturday could be termed as the icing on their cake. After having won a number of gold medals and other prestigious prizes at the Republic Day Parade held in New Delhi recently, they got a chance to interact with Governor K Rosaiah, who showered praises on the students for their determination and performance. NCC officials said that this year’s Republic Day was something special for the contingent from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, which stood out for its brilliant performances at the parade, considered the most prestigious event on the NCC calendar. Apart from individual gold medals in the senior wing and junior wing categories, the contingent under the leadership of Col G Jagajeev bagged the top spot at the All India Cancer Awareness Competition. Appreciating the efforts, the Governor interacted with the students and urged them to aim for higher laurels.
