PIRAVOM: A girl drowned in the Muvattupuzha river at the Kallidumbil Kadav near here on Sunday. Another girl was found missing. The deceased is Sara Joseph (Neelu), 15, daughter of Joseph Mathew Assarikuttu, Kallara, Kottayam.
The missing girl is Sara's cousin Elizabeth, 12, daughter of Savio, Kunnasseril House, Njeezhoor, Kaduthuruthy. Elizabeth's father Savio is the brother of Mar Kuriakose Kunnessery, former bishop of Kottayam Diocese.The girls were on a visit to their relative's house at
Piravom.

The girls were caught in the heavy current and flowed downstream.Sara was pulled out of the water and rushed to hospital where she died. TheFire and Rescue Services personnel from Piravom and the local people have launched a search for the body of Elizabeth.
