The next four months are tipped to be an exciting time for car enthusiasts in the country as many cars are lining up to be rolled out on Indian roads. Though a majority of the cars are a revamped avatar of existing models, there will also be a number of cars that will be completely new to Indian drivers.

The next four months are tipped to be an exciting time for car enthusiasts in the country as many cars are lining up to be rolled out on Indian roads. Though a majority of the cars are a revamped avatar of existing models, there will also be a number of cars that will be completely new to Indian drivers.

One of the models to be launched is Mahindra Quanto, the cut short model of Xylo. The looks of Quanto are exactly similar to Xylo, but with a variation in length.

The R&D of Mahindra&Mahindra has taken serious bid for the car after the popularity of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Duster in the same segment, which have been selling in good numbers. Mahindra is looking to roll out the MUV in September or during Diwali time. The company is yet to disclose details about engine specification and price. Mahindra will also launch Reva-modelled NXR mini car by this year end. The concept was showcased at Auto expo 2012.

American car manufacturer Chevrolet are all set to replace its aging Aveo with promising sedan Sail that is expected to be launched before Diwali. Chevrolet has reportedly been doing aggressive testing of Sail these days.

GM had showcased its hatchback model in Auto Expo 2012. The sedan will be powered by 1.3-litre common-rail diesel engine co-developed by GM and Fiat. The petrol variants is expected to have a 1.2-litre or 1.4-litre option. The hatchback of the model will also be launched before the year end. Similarly, the company is likely to roll out 7-8 seater CN 100 by this year end or early next year. The MUV is being launched as competition to Mahindra’s Xylo. The price is expected to be around `5-7 lakh. Chevrolet will also be launching the refined models of Tavera and Beat soon.

European automobile giant Volkswagen will be coming up with two new models this year. In an ambitious move, Volkswagen Up is expected to roll out within two months. The car will be priced at around `3-5 lakh, making its presence felt in the lower segments too. The other model that is to hit the Indian road would be Volkswagen Touareg, the SUV is expected to be out with 3.0-litre V6 TD engine. The car will be priced in the `50-`65 lakhrange.

Nissan will launch its international hit Nissan Evalia before the end of this year. This is one of the highest selling van model car in Europe and America. The car is known for its great mileage, competitive pricing and better power-delivered engines. The car would cost around `6-8 lakh, having 1.5-litre K9K turbocharged diesel engine. The mileage is expected to be around 15-17 km per litre.

Ashok Leyland will be coming up with a new car, Stile, which is modelled on Nissan NV200. The van model vehicle will be powered by 1.5-litre diesel engine producing maximum of 135 Bhp power. LNG variant of the van is also expected to hit the market. 

TATA has given facelifts to their existing models, Aria, Safari, and Manza. Maruti Suzuki will be rolling out its refined models of Alto and Ritz before this year end. Ford will launch the new version of Figo in the coming months.
