G Narayana remembered

BANGALORE: Former mayor G Narayana’s contribution to the development of Kannada and city was remembered at the condolence meeting organised by the Udayabhanu Kalasangha in the city on Sunday. Ramachandra Gowda, vice-president, State Planning Commission, remembered how Narayana as  mayor brought Cauvery water into the city for the first time. He also recalled how Narayana installed the statue of Kempegowda in front of the Corporation building. He urged other members to help set-up a memorial for the former mayor. Speaking about Narayana’s mission to eradicate illiteracy in villages, M H Krishnayya, president, Sahitya Parishat, said that the former mayor had spoken about involving NGO’s for this programme.
