'Friday' director Lijin upset with theatre owners
The theatre owners have a prejudiced approach towards new generation films, which spoils BO results says Lijin.

"The theatre owners of the state are having a prejudiced approach to new generation films which ultimately results in spoiling their Box Office chances", says Lijin Jose, the director of 'Friday'. He was talking to the press as a part of the promotion of his recent critically acclaimed film.

Citing his case of doing an experiment, the film without any intervals, Lijin complaints that the theatres including the state run Kairali- Sree complex are halting the movie in between abruptly, to let people go out for the snack, which is indeed affecting much on the tempo of the narratives.

"'This act has completely damaged our attempts. Even we are not getting the support that the films with bigger casts are getting from theatre owners. 'Friday' was just able to release in just 28 centres all across the state. Then how can we bring in collections like the big films do?" asks Lijin.

Fahad Fazil, who did one of the main characters of the film as a poor auto driver said that "It was he, who demanded the role, as it is sure to change his image of a Metro boy". Fahad also remembered his long tIme association with the main crew who are also his friends from Alappuzha. The producer of the film Sandra Thomas, and the scriptwriter Najeem Koya was also present in the press conference.

Interestingly, the other three low profile films that set the Box office roaring, 'Diamond Necklace', '22FK' and 'Ee Adutha Kalathu' were all forced to open in less than thirty centres, which in turn affected their commercial prospects.

Though all these movies ran to around 100 days, none of them were able to collect half the total amount of the other two big hits of the year 'Maya Mohini' and 'Ordinary', especially due to their limited release.
