CHENNAI: The city police on Friday arrested two film ma-kers for allegedly defrauding a sum of Rs 67 lakh from a film financier by promising to make a movie.Police sources said that P V Prasath, who directed Kadhalil Vizhunthen, had approached A Tamizhkumaran, who owns Tamil Cinemas, with a proposal to make a new movie. Even after obtaining money for cinematography and music, Prasath failed to begin the shooting. When Tamizhkumaran demanded an explanation for the delay, he was allegedly offered the Chennai dis-tribution rights and world satellite broadcasting rights of Eppadi Manasukkul Vanthai, initiated by Prasath with G Krishnamurthy alias Kiccha as the producer. Ho-wever, the two then proceeded to give the rights to another private firm rather than to Tamizhkumaran, who lodged a complaint with the police.Following this, the police initiated an investigation and on Friday arrested Prasath and Krishnamurthy. They were later produced before the Saidapet Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
