Chennai: Family members of Tamil Nadu agriculture department engineer Muthukumarasamy who committed suicide, have denied reports that they received any threat from the ruling AIADMK.
"The chief engineer approached me for a job offer. We are not happy with the CB-CID probe," son of the engineer Sethuraman said.
The engineer committed suicide on February 20 allegedly under political pressure over departmental appointments. The Tamil Nadu government had earlier in March sacked Agriculture Minister SS Krishnamurthy over the allegations.
Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu are demanding that the probe be transferred to the CBI from the state's CB-CID. "I am aware of the suicide case...Since the AIADMK govt and its minister is involved, it will be better if the case is transferred to the CBI," DMK Leader MK Stallin said.
