CHENNAI: The latest socio-public initiative to come forth from the Exnora stable is its Humourology wing, ably supported and launched by Tamil cinema’s King of Comedy, S Ve Shekher. “It’s an initiative that is still very fresh, but we are very confident in the power of laughter therapy and humour for wellbeing and so it has been started,” said the yesteryear tinseltown comedian who is still active in theatre. If things go according to plan, all Exnora meetings will henceforth have a segment where a person does stand-up comedy with a social theme, said Exnora International founder M B Nirmal, “As this person makes people laugh, a bag will be passed around for people to contribute whatever they believe the item deserves. This will then be used to pay a month’s fees for an underprivileged child,” he said.“Humour is in everything and there’s a lot of thought that can be fed to people by playing up the lighter side,” said Shekher, explaining why he still liked delivering humour-laden talks in colleges, private groups and other meetings. He will be the brand ambassador for the initiative while other comedians will be roped in as the initiative grows, said Nirmal. Needless to say, by the time the inaugural humour talk was done with, the crowd of elderly people who had gathered at Arihant Towers were holding their sides, after having laughed really hard.
