CHENKANAL: Pradeep Nayak, a 10yearold orphan of Dama Sahi village in Govindprasad panchayat has finally found succour. After five years of suffering over a boil, which took the shape of an ulcer over prolonged medical negligence, the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has finally woken up to Pradeep's woes and admitted him to the District Headquarters Hospital on Wednesday.
Deserted by relatives, including his married sister, Pradeep lived on the little he earned by grazing domestic animals of neighbours in the nearby forests. Neighbours occasionally volunteered with food which was often inadequate. "During the days of excruciating pain, I used to consume pain killers for temporary relief," he revealed. It was after one Ranjan Nayak spotted him, villagers took a note of the hapless child.

A team from CWC headed by Biranchi Narayan Pany visited Pradeep on Wednesday and admitted him to the District Headquarters Hospital here, under the supervision of a team of specialist doctors headed by Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) BC Behera.

Member of Dhenkanal District CWC Bharti Patnaik appealed to the locals to extend their helping hand to Pradeep.
