BANGALORE: With the growing concern for nature and global warming, the need to delve into eco-friendly garments and accessories is ever increasing. Keeping in mind the need to do our little bit for the environment,  Do U Speak Green (DUSG), the Mumbai-based eco-friendly clothing brand, launches its organic clothing line in the city. Shishir Goenka, an avid nature lover and enthusiast himself, is the mastermind behind this collection. “My own passion for environment and the need to do something in order to conserve it is what drives me to be behind this initiative,” says Shishir. “By organic we also mean that the cotton is grown without using harmful fertilisers or pesticides. The bamboo fibre used is indispensable and sustainable, and since it is very light, sweat absorbent and dries very quickly, it is excellent during summers. It creates the same effect as the ‘dry fit’ sports wear which are retailed in the market,” he further adds. In suave and vibrant colours, the collection has something for everyone. The collection has been split between trendy T-shirts, sports wear, gym wear, yoga wear and lounge wear for men, women, teenagers, kids and professionals. The prints used on the garments are all ‘in sync’ with nature. While some of them have prints of varied flora and fauna from the wild, others have messages for conserving planet. The raw materials are bought and knit into yarn at a factory in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The fabric is then stitched into different apparels and designs. The dyes used are all eco-friendly, water based dyes as opposed to the plastic dyes used in normal clothing. “Water based dyes are very safe for the environment in comparison to plastic solvents. They are skin friendly and are durable. People do not have to worry about washing it separately or taking special care while using these garments, because they are all equally durable and made with the finest fabric,” says Shishir.   As a part of the initiative, Do U Speak Green further has tied up with the World Wildlife Federation and sends 10 per cent of the sales proceeds to them. The whole collection has a very casual appeal and is priced at an affordable range, between `400 and `1,000.  The collection is available across all Mother Earth stores in the city.
