KOCHI: Six digital seismographs will be set up at different parts of Idukki district to analyse the clear frequency of earth quake taking place in the district. After visiting the Mulaperiyar dam on Sunday, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishanan told mediapersons that the government would take all possible steps to save the life of people living in downstream of the dam.“To tackle any kind of catastrophe the government will equip the disaster management team with advanced technology. A special disaster relief package will also be initiated for the district,” he said. He added that compensation will be provided for those whose houses got damaged in the quake.The visit was made in wake of fresh cracks appeared in the dam after a 3.4 magnitude tremor hit the district last week. The minister was accompanied by CPMleader Kodiyeri Balakrishanan and team of experts comprising officials from Centre for Earth Science Studies .
