Despite Rs 250 crores being spent annually by the Uttar Pradesh government in the district, students enrollment in the Primary and Junior High Schools has declined during the current academic year.

Despite Rs 250 crores being spent annually by the Uttar Pradesh government in the district, students enrollment in the Primary and Junior High Schools has declined during the current academic year.

There were 2,73,272 students enrolled with these schools during the current academic (2013-14) year against 2,84,245 in (2012-13), last year, according to the statistics provided by Basic Shiksha Adhikari office (BSA), the body governing these schools.

The BSA office further says that there are hardly 50 Schools having above 100 students, adding even many have only 10 to 20 pupils.
