New Delhi: A 26-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding dumper in Lodhi Road on Sunday morning. The victim, Shreya Anand, daughter of an Indian Air Force officer, was on her way home after attending a party in Ambassador Hotel when the incident took place.

The Swift car was being driven by the victim’s friend Kabir Gosain (29), who had a miraculous escape. The two were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where she was declared bought dead. Kabir was discharged after first aid.

The victim who was an architect by profession was slated to marry Kabir on February 20 next year, according to family members.

The dumper had not only jumped the signal, but also entered the non-heavy vehicle zone illegally. The killer driver, however has been arrested.

The road in question is perhaps the most dangerous in the Capital, having seen six deaths in road accidents in 2007, and seven in 2006.

This is the same road on which the infamous Sanjeev Nanda-BMW hit-and-run case took place a decade ago.

Earlier this month, a speeding car rammed into a police barricade injuring three cops in the same area.

What's your reaction?
