Delhi Shocker: Man Jumps to Death in Front of Metro At INA Station; Incident Caught Live on Cam
Investigation into the matter is taking place under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure

In a tragic incident, a man took his life by jumping in front of a metro at Delhi’s INA station on Saturday evening. The incident was caught live on CCTV cameras.

Commuters inside the station at the time were left stunned by what unfolded in front of their eyes within a fraction of seconds.

According to the police, late on Saturday — around 7:38 pm — they received a Police Control Room (PCR) call about a person jumping in front of the metro.

Soon after the call, police reached the spot and found that the man had jumped onto the metro track going towards Samaypur Badli on platform number 2 of the station.

He was found lying dead on the track, police said. Ram Gopal Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) noted that the body was shifted to the mortuary of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Republic World said.

The deceased was identified as one Ajitej — around 30-year-old — a resident of the national capital’s Satya Niketan area.

Police have started further investigation into the matter under Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) Section 174.

LAST YEAR’S INCIDENTS

In October 2023, a 35-year-old bank officer ended his life by jumping in front of a metro train at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, police said.

A teenager in September was severely injured after she jumped in front of a metro at the Noida City Centre station in a case of attempt to suicide.

Aged around 15, the girl was taken to the district hospital and from there was referred to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Further back in August, a 40-year-old man died after he jumped on the tracks at the Delhi Metro’s AIIMS metro station.

As per preliminary probe, police said that the victim allegedly jumped, hit his head and died on the spot. Further investigation is underway, they said The situation at the spot is normal, crime and forensics teams have been called and proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC are going on, police added.
