Delhi polls: Congress to start 'door-to-door' campaign

Witnessing a keen tussle among parties for the December 4 Assembly elections, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday decided that the "people-to-people contact" and "door-to-door" campaigning would be the main thrust for the party.

"The party would put thrust on people-to-people contact as the main plank in its election campaign," Congress Campaign Committee Chairman Subhash Chandra said after the party's first meeting for the ensuing Assembly elections on Thursday.

DPCC President Jai Prakash Agarwal said campaigning for the elections is going on in full swing, and key speakers would soon start visiting Constituencies.

"We will once again get support of the city people to form the government for the fourth time in a row," a confident Agarwal said.

Senior party leader Janardan Dwivedi, who was present at the meeting, asked party workers to "undertake door-to-door campaigns" and appealed to Agarwal to "involve all the cells and frontal organisations in it".

AICC member Shakeel Ahmed, who participated in the meeting, appeared confident about the party's good show in the forthcoming elections, and said, "Congress is heading towards victory and we would form the Government for a fourth consecutive term."
