After series of meetings and confabulations, Congress is all set to finalise its candidates for all 70 constituencies on Saturday when filing of nominations for the December 4 assembly election will begin.
The list of candidates will be finalised at a meeting of Central Election Committee to be chaired by party President Sonia Gandhi.
The party is likely to nominate all the sitting 43 MLAs barring a few who are facing serious criminal charges.
Sources in the party said candidates for around 60 assembly contituencies have already been finalised and a decision on remaining 10 seats will be taken at Saturday's meeting.
The Screening Committee, headed by Union minister V Narayanasamy, held a series of meetings to finalise the list of probables for all the constituencies.
Sources said the Screening Committee had kept as pending applications of three sitting MLAs -- Dayanand Chandila (Rajouri Garden), Jaswant Rana (Narela) and Asif Mohammed Khan (Okhla) who are facing criminal charges.
A meeting of the party's Central Election Committee on October 28 had taken a decision that the names of candidates will be announced after Diwali.
The sources said those getting tickets will have to have their names proposed in at least from one of the eight forums -- either of the two blocks in an assembly segment, the district committee, observer, party's internal survey, MP, PCC president and CLP leader.
While those, who have lost an assembly election by a margin of 10,000 votes will not be considered, candidates, who have lost municipal corporation polls by more than 2500 votes, will also not be fielded on the same criteria.
There is already a decision not to give ticket to anybody facing serious criminal charge in all the five assembly poll-bound states including Delhi.
A decision was also taken earlier not to give tickets to those who suffered two consecutive defeats in either assembly polls or municipal elections.
Besides, Narayansamy, other members of the Screening Committee include Bhubaneshwar Kalita, Shakeel Ahmed, DPCC chief J P Agarwal, Sheila Dikshit and Kuldip Nagra.
Around 1,600 Congress men had applied for tickets.
BJP has already announced candidates for 58 constituencies while it left four seats for its ally Akali Dal (Badal).
