New Delhi: The strike by Maruti workers at its Manesar plant entered its 9th day on Saturday. The workers have now agreed to abide by the Punjab and Haryana High Court order to protest at least 100 metres outside the factory walls.

The company on Friday also suspended production at its Gurgaon plant for 48 hours.

The labour agitation intensified on Friday as workers earlier, defied the Punjab and Haryana High Court order by protesting within 100 metres of the plant.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had asked the workers to keep their protest 100 metres away from the plant.

Police sources had said workers who have been protesting inside will have to vacate the premises. The police were trying to cripple the agitation by preventing the supply of food and water to protesters.

The Employees union is adamant and said that the strike will continue even if police resort to action.
