Mumbai: Pakistani-American Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist and 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks convict David Coleman Headley on Thursday offered to act as a witness in the case.
He appeared before the sessions court through a video link from an undisclosed location in the US. Ujjwal Nikam, the special public prosecutor, told the judge G A Sanap that Headley was ready to turn "approver" if given pardon.
Headley said, "I have recieved the charges document filed against me in this court, it charges me with the same conduct for which I was charged in the US.I have plead guilty in the past to the charges in the US and I admitted I was a participant in these charges. I accepted responsibility, for my role in those offences in my plea agreement. I also agreed to make myself available as a witness in this court. I appear here ready to answer questions regarding these events, if I receive a pardon from this court," he added.
Headley is currently serving 35 years in an American prison after being convicted of being involved in the planning and execution of the Mumbai terrorist attacks on November 26, 2008 in which 166 persons were killed.
