KOCHI: The Indian Mujahideen (IM) and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) operative Afaq Iqbal alias Danish Riaz was presented before the NIA court, in connection with the Wagamon secret terrorist camp on Wednesday. He was later sent to Aluva sub-jail where he will be interrogated by NIA officials.Danish Riaz was brought by the Gujarat Police on the basis of a production warrant issued against him. The accused has been charged with offenses under sections 124A (sedition), 122 (collecting arms, etc with the intention of waging war against the Government of India), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, and various sections of the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act. The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) had arrested Riaz in connection with the Ahmedabad blast in June this year. He was also allegedly involved in the Mumbai terror attack. Riaz was questioned by the NIA several times at the Sabarmati central jail, Ahmedabad. The NIA had submitted chargesheets against 30 in connection with the Wagamon secret terrorist camp held in November 2007. It submitted that the financial aid to the SIMI camp came from Pakistan and around 30 terrorists had attended. Of the 30 accused, 29 are at the Sabarmati jail. They are allegedly involved in various other terrorism cases. One of the accused, Abdul Sattar is still absconding. A proclamation warrant and lookout notice have been issued against him.
