ROURKELA: BJP State executive member and municipal councillor Pramila Das was jailed on Tuesday on charges of causing criminal miscarriage of a rape victim.Police said Pramila along with the rape accused Binod Yadav’s wife Puspanjali were found involved in causing criminal abortion of the victim. The victim was working as a domestic help in the house of Binod, residing in Railway Colony here, who later developed physical relationship with her. When he refused to accept her, she lodged a complaint with the Mahila Police and Binod was sent to jail on February 28 on charges of rape. The victim was sheltered in a childcare home at Bisra.To save her husband, Pushpanjali sought the help of Pramila and also offered her a hefty sum. Pramila and Pushpanjali conspired to abort the victim’s pregnancy. The women won the victim’s confidence and on March 3, they visited her at Bisra where they made her drink tea laced with abortion pills causing miscarriage. Pushpanjali is absconding.
