THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “The brutal murder of T P Chandrasekharan has alienated the CPM leadership from the party rank and file as well as from the LDF,” said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Inaugurating ‘Manishada’, the state-wide UDF gathering against political violence at Sasthamangalam here on Wednesday, Chandy cautioned the CPM leadership that they would face alienation from the common people if they did not mend their ways. “Accusing fingers have been pointed at the CPM earlier too for their actions,” said Chandy, referring to the gruesome murder of Shukkoor, a youth from Taliparamba. Chandy said that he received a number of calls from common people from across the state inquiring about the status of the T P Chandrasekharan murder case. “All of them had asked when the killers and conspirators would be arrested” he said. Oommen Chandy expressed his hope that Chandrasekharan’s murder would be the last of such murders in the state. UDF leaders including Ministers P K Kunhalikutty, V S Sivakumar and K Muraleedharan MLA, C P John and former bureaucrat D Babu Paul participated in the gathering.
