A decision on naming the next leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Madhya Pradesh is likely to be taken on Tuesday by the party High Command. An announcement to this effect was made in Bhopal by senior Congress leader and Union Minister Oscar Fernandes. He and Union Minister C P Joshi were the two central observers for the meeting to select the new leader of the CLP.
A meeting of all newly-elected Congress legislators of Madhya Pradesh took place in Bhopal on Sunday evening. Following which, the two observers held one-to-one meetings with each of the legislators and in the end, the matter was left to be decided by the party High Command in New Delhi.
There are a number of contenders for the post and they include Ajay Singh who was leader of the party in the last Madhya Pradesh Assembly and MLAs Satyadev Katare and Mahendra Singh Kalukheda.
