Cong nays BJP's plea to join hands
BJP has no ideology except grabbing power and Congress did not share theories of "expediency of temporary alliances" with it.

New Delhi: Congress has rejected BJP proposal to join hands together to defeat Left parties in the Assembly elections in Kerala next year.

"BJP has been a party of fickleness, a party which falsely presents an ideological front, but actually has no ideology except grabbing power," Congress spokesperson Abhshek Singhvi said.

He said Congress did not share theories of "expediency of temporary alliances" with persons or parties like BJP.

"As far as we are concerned, East and West cannot meet," he added.

Asked about TRS chief Chandrashekhar Rao's move to cobble a front of non-Congress and non-Left UPA allies, he said "as far as we know, there exists no such front. This government has a broad-based coordination committee which meets periodically and partners discuss and review policies of the coalition."

"Anybody who has to make a point or suggestions are always welcome," he said and added that the TRS chief's view on Telengana is well known.

Asked about the delay on the Telengana issue which has also been promised under the Common Minimum Programme of the UPA government, Singhvi said let the committee appointed in this regard submit its report first, then action could be taken accordingly.
