HYDERABAD: After a brief lull, two more attacks on people belonging to a particular community took place on Tuesday night leaving three persons injured. Police, however, ruled out the communal angle behind the attacks.
An youth was attacked by unidentified persons at Salarjung Colony while returning to his house at Moti Darwaza. The victim told police the miscreants asked his name before attacking him. The miscreants also snatched away `10,000 from him. Langer Houz police said the incident might not be communal as the attackers also committed robbery. Meanwhile, an elderly person and his daughterinlaw were attacked by unidentified persons who barged into their house at Vittalwadi under Narayanguda police limits. The attackers inflicted injuries with sharp weapons on the duo and they were shifted to a private hospital. Narayanguda police inspector G Girish Rao said they are investigating whether disputes might have led to the attack. A case has been registered and investigation is on. Meanwhile, Shahinayathgunj police registered a case against unidentified persons based on complaint filed by a 30yearold person claiming he was attacked at GodekiKhabar on November 17. The injured claimed he was attacked with sharp weapons after miscreants asked his name. "The injured person is giving contradictory versions. He was in a drunken condition and he did not approach police immediately after the incident. We are verifying into the case,'' Shahinayathgunj inspector Guru Raghavendra said. A case under Section 324 (causing hurt) was registered.Meanwhile, city police commissioner AK Khan held a meeting with presidents and secretaries of important 'Anjumans' on Wednesday about police arrangements to be made during Moharram month in view of the tense atmosphere prevailing following the series of attacks. Khan said the same arrangements including traffic will be made at all Ashurkhanas and routes of processions as in the past. Police asked community members to observe restraint and follow practices which should not hurt sentiments of other communities, an official release said.
